After getting their tooshies kicked 128-112 by the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of their opening round playoff series, the Memphis Grizzlies were naturally not happy. Rui Hachimura came up big, scoring a career-high 29 points, 21 of which came in the second half. Austin Reeves put in 23 points of his own, 14 of which came in the fourth quarter.
In the postgame, Memphis guard Desmond Bane, who scored 22 in a losing effort, when asked about the gamplan for guarding Hachimura and adjustments going forward, Bane had this to say:
That was our gamplean going in, make him hit shots and he did. Tip your cap, it’s probably he’s had of his career. It’s a seven-game series, lets see if he can do it again on Wednesday.
Considering the Grizzlies penchant for wreckless tash talk this season , these comments are but another mark on the register as why this team is rather unlikeable in the eyes of so many basketball fans.
Dillion Brooks may have gotten what he wanted in drawing the Lakers in the first round, but basketball fans also were sated , at least for 48 hours, with a Grizzlies loss.
